School and Student Recruitment | Aspire
At ASPIRE, we have strong relationships with our partner schools across Sydney and regional and remote NSW. The logistics for the school for putting in place an online mentoring program can be considerable. School staff resources are required to support the work involved and establish the mentoring relationship.
In your discussions with the school, decide which year group is most suitable for online mentoring. Typically, schools will consider any years prior to Year 9 to be too young and their mindset may not be mature enough.
Possible year groups for online mentoring:
- Years 9 and 10 are usually transition years where students often start to think about post school options but are not sure what future paths to take. Having a mentor to bounce ideas around could be very helpful.
- A mentor in Years 11 and 12 can help students address specific questions about goal attainment relating to HSC or scholarship applications etc
